Well, suddenly, here we are just days out from our much anticipated and many-times postponed trip to Canada.
It all started with the infamous "Gringoes and Grizzlies Tour" back in 2019....and then there was COVID!!! Say no more!
Mike and Wendy have credits for The Rocky Mountaineer and their Alaskan cruise, which they are still keen to do. We figure that the scenery won't have changed much in a couple of years, and, Erin is still in Vancouver....so here we go, resuming where we left off almost exactly three years ago, albeit with a couple of adjustments.
Although Cuba is off the itinerary for this trip 😞, we will still have time in Vancouver with Erin, we will still be in the wilderness to see the bears and the Allans will have their salubrious train trip through the Rockies and their cruise to Alaska. And, we will get over to the wild Atlantic coast of Canada (Nova Scotia and PEI) an area Wendy and I have wanted to visit since our last Canadian adventure in 2012.
So, the lounge room is strewn with gear.....cases, clothes, passports and an assortment of travel stuff. Packing for the Northern Hemisphere in Spring is a bit more complicated than usual....so I'm told. More than a toothbrush and "budgie smugglers" required for this adventure. I'm not sure if it's a good thing (or not) that Premium Economy on Air Canada allows two suitcases per person....I guess we'll see.
Doogie the dog is sniffing around.....looking, sniffing....wondering....what on earth is happening here? Unlike our previous dogs who knew instantly what suitcases mean...he's too young and inexperienced to understand....but he'll find out.....pretty soon actually.
The planning and organising is done. The official document folder and itinerary is up to date. Passports, travel cards, eTA's and bookings checked and re-checked. All that is left to do is get on that plane and find out what awaits us at the other end. We know it won't go exactly to plan....but we are hoping for another wonderful time in Canada....with great company, unique experiences and a few "libations" at our daily "happy hour" staff meetings.
Sooo looking forward to boarding that 777!
