Gringos and Grizzlies Tour

Strange things happen over a beer...or two!

So, the travel bug has bitten and it's on again.... another "Tour" together for the Bests and Allans.

With only half the time I usually need to to plan and organise such an undertaking we are off on another adventure....the Gringos and Grizzlies Tour......in less than six months!!

It came about quite innocently......with Michael and I just talking....you know......a couple of blokes just shooting the breeze when he came over to check out what was involved in looking after Charlotte while we went to Canberra for a few days.

He had generously offered to look after her because, with all her problems...blind, deaf, arthritic and with “digestive issues” and with a regime of medications to go with them, it is difficult to leave her for more than a day without causing undue stress...for her and us!

Being an elderly hound (just turned 15 human years)  she really needs to be in her familiar surroundings and he, being a doggy person...and thoughtful...offered to stay at our place with her to give us some time away.

Anyway, he mentioned, again, that he and Wendy have been keen to get over to Canada to do the Rocky Mountaineer and cruise to Alaska for some time now and that it would probably be their next trip. And after that the conversation developed and went something like.....

"Erin's over in Vancouver and you haven't seen her for a while. We should get the old firm back together organise another tour....to Canada ...it’d be great!"

"Well," I said "we would except, you know, .....the dog....." ....and then it got interesting.

"I’ve got friends he said who 'specialise' in house sitting, love dogs and gardens and would love to come and look after your house and Charlotte. You know the Mannings...since retirement that’s their hobby, their interest, their 'thing'. I’ll check with them to see if they are free ....when are we going again?"

What????.....it was snowballing....and I was in the middle of said snowball and lost my sense of balance...and common sense as well!

"Well if we did go" I pitched "We’d have to have a side trip to see the Grizzlies in the Canadian wilds."

"Yep, we’ll be in that"  he replied quite quickly.

We'd love to see some of these in their wild habitat...and hopefully a bit "chilled" like this one.

".......and while we are over there.....I’d like to visit Cuba as well."

"Cuba....Cuba....did you say Cuba?" was his reaction...with a confused look on his face...." I’ll get back to you on that one".

So Wendy Margaret has banned Michael and I from being together without supervision because, well he did get back in the affirmative re Cuba, and it is all go for the Gringos and Grizzlies Tour, leaving late April next year.

Can hardly wait!
